Company History
Founded in 1994 as Sure Hair International, the clinic began as a dedicated non-surgical hair restoration centre. Over time, as hair transplantation techniques advanced, we invested early in the tools and training that allow for more natural-looking results, then built a surgical program that has continued to evolve and improve every year since.
In 2023, we updated our public facing name to Sure Hair Transplants Toronto to more clearly reflect what we specialize in today: advanced surgical hair transplantation (FUE & FUT) led by an experienced hair restoration physician and a long tenured surgical team.
A singular focus: hair restoration and nothing else
Unlike many cosmetic clinics that offer a wide menu of procedures, we chose a different path: we focus on hair restoration only. That focus impacts everything; planning, graft handling, site creation, hairline design, aftercare, and long-term strategy.
High-volume experience, refined protocols
- Regular FUE mega-sessions of approximately 2,000–3,000 grafts
- Regular FUT/strip mega-sessions exceeding 3,000 grafts
- A dedicated surgical team with extensive cumulative experience and long-term tenure
Our evolution: from non-surgical origins to surgical excellence
1990: Sure Hair International is founded
Sure Hair International launched in 1990 with a specialized focus on non-surgical hair restoration and hair augmentation. From day one, the clinic’s identity was built around one goal: helping patients restore hair in a way that looks natural and feels personal.
1996: Early adoption of stereoscopic microscopes
In 1996, the introduction and use of stereoscopic microscopes changed what was possible in graft refinement, graft handling, and natural-looking outcomes. We recognized the impact immediately and began investing in surgical infrastructure and research, so we could deliver more refined, more consistent results.
Partnership + protocol legacy: building on world-class surgical foundations
As our surgical program expanded, we partnered with physician Dr. Nelson Ferreira, who served as Medical Director of Sure Hair International for over a decade. His professionalism, attention to medical protocol, and commitment to patient care helped shape the clinic’s surgical foundation and set standards that remain part of our approach today.

Dr Ferreira had been thoroughly trained within the surgical ecosystem shaped by Dr. David Seager one of Toronto’s major pioneers in modern hair transplant surgery and a key influence behind dense-packing and “stick & place” methodology.
That legacy matters, but it’s only the beginning. Sure Hair has carried forward, refined, and continuously improved those foundational principles with modern tools, meticulous graft care, and updated clinical protocols, while maintaining the craftsmanship and “human element” that high-quality hair transplantation demands.
Why we prefer the “human element” over robotics
We perform transplantation sessions using handheld devices for excision and site creation because the surgeon and team must constantly adapt to the patient’s unique scalp characteristics in real time contour, elasticity, skin turgor, depth of penetration, hair curl, and donor-zone variability.
This approach allows us to individualize each case and adjust to the microenvironment in the donor area as it changes throughout the procedure, something that matters when your goal is natural-looking density and long-term donor management.
Today: a modern surgical centre + a training environment
Sure Hair operates as a modern, state-of-the-art hair transplant surgical practice, supported by specialized staff and a dedicated workflow for graft preparation, site creation, and placement.
We’re also proud to contribute to the broader field by serving as a learning environment for clinicians and teams interested in our refined surgical workflows and technique-driven approach to natural-looking outcomes.

Company History FAQ
When was Sure Hair founded, and what was the original name?
Sure Hair was founded in 1990 as Sure Hair International.
The clinic originally focused on non-surgical hair restoration before expanding into advanced surgical hair transplantation as techniques and technology evolved.
Why did the name change to “Sure Hair Transplants Toronto” in 2023?
In 2023, we updated our public-facing name to Sure Hair Transplants Toronto to more accurately reflect what we specialize in today: surgical hair transplantation (FUE & FUT) performed by an experienced team led by our medical director Dr Aditya Gupta.
We’re still the same clinic and team—just with a name that clearly communicates our primary focus to patients searching for hair transplant care in Toronto.
Have you always offered hair transplant surgery?
Sure Hair began as a non-surgical hair restoration clinic. As hair transplant techniques advanced, we invested early in surgical tools and training—especially in areas that impact naturalness, like graft refinement and placement technique.
By the mid-to-late 1990s, hair transplantation protocols improved significantly (including stereoscopic microscope use), and we expanded our surgical capabilities accordingly.
What role did Dr. David Seager’s legacy play in your surgical protocols?
Toronto has a strong history in modern hair transplantation, and Dr. David Seager is widely recognized as one of the key pioneers behind high-density “mega-session” approaches and “stick & place” workflow principles.
Sure Hair built surgical protocols informed by that foundation through physician partnership and team training, then continued to refine and evolve those workflows with modern instrumentation, graft care, and updated clinical standards.
Why does Sure Hair emphasize “All we do is hair”?
Hair transplantation is highly specialized. By staying exclusively focused on hair restoration, our planning, staffing, tools, and protocols are built around one objective: natural-looking, long-term results.
Many clinics split attention across multiple cosmetic services. We don’t, our workflow is designed around hair, every day.
Do you use robotic hair transplant systems?
We primarily use handheld surgical devices for excision and site creation because hair transplantation often requires real-time adaptation to scalp characteristics, contour, elasticity, skin turgor, hair curl, and donor variability.
That “human element” allows our surgeon and team to individualize the approach throughout the procedure, with the goal of maximizing naturalness and graft handling quality.
Where is your surgical centre located?
Our surgical services are provided through our clinic network in the Greater Toronto Area, with a dedicated surgical facility and consultation locations. For the most up-to-date addresses, parking, and transit notes, please visit our Locations page.
